2023 Fighting For Futures

2023 Fighting For Futures Inaugural Event

The 2023 event was not only the inaugural Fighting for Futures, but also the first event put on by The Evergreen Children’s Foundation. The event was a resounding success as there were over 350 attendees and over $100,000 raised for our 2023 Grant recipients. We hope to make future versions of the event even better and look forward to seeing you at the next Fighting for Futures on June 20, 2024.

Our 2023 Grant recipients were: Alliance for Decision Education, Put Me In, and SuitUp Incorporated.

2023 Grant Recipients

SuitUp is a 501c3 education non-profit that increases career readiness for all students through innovative virtual and in-person business competitions.Through SuitUp, students experience solving a realistic corporate challenge, such as designing a new product for Nike. They have the opportunity to interact with corporate volunteers who coach them on marketing, design, financing, and strategy as well as professional “soft skills”, before helping them pitch to judges for a cash prize. By the end of the experience, students can see the corporate world as part of “their world” and know that job titles, such as CEO, CFO, VP of Marketing, etc. are now in their grasp. Since inception, SuitUp has served over 14,000 students across 27 states.

PMI: Put Me In! provides recurring annual financial aid packages of $1,000 per year to children of incarcerated parents (“CIPs”) to increase their access to sports. PMI’s annual financial aid supports the direct costs of sports participation (league fees, equipment, and travel), and automatically renews yearly through 12th grade.

In its commitment to large-scale impact, the Alliance for Decision Education is building a movement to establish and integrate Decision Education into the Kindergarten-12th (K-12) grade systems of all 50 states. Decision Education is the teaching and learning of skillful judgment formation and decision-making. It includes four Learning Domains (Thinking Probabilistically, Valuing and Applying Rationality, Structuring Decisions, and Recognizing and Resisting Cognitive Biases) that build skills from grades K-12, enabling students to form more accurate judgments and make more skillful decisions—on their own or as part of a group, both today and for the rest of their lives.
