Why are you boxing?

The reason why I chose to box in Fighting for Futures is twofold. It combines two things I'm pretty passionate about: the sport of boxing, which I got into as an alternative way of staying in shape, and helping the next generation by providing opportunities they might not ordinarily have access to. While I've spent the past two-plus decades working in the world of trading and financial technology, my first job out of college was teaching social studies and Spanish and coaching girls varsity volleyball, boys j.v. basketball, boys varsity baseball and being the Director of Community Service at my alma mater, Lawrence Woodmere Academy. Nowadays my opportunities to give back are limited to coaching my kids in basketball and baseball, and the Evergreen Children's foundation was brought to my attention by several Chicago-based clients who had tremendous things to say about the Fighting For Futures event. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to be involved with such an amazing cause.
